8. What does it mean to be an employee of a company/group/industry? Declare your definition here.
A good employee is someone who truly cares about the specific job they preform. A good employee not only has a positive and approchable personalilty, a good employee will help out fellow employees and always go the extra yard to get something done. The difference between a good employee and an okay employee is the dedication level one has towards his or her job. A good employee will never just sit back, and roll through the motions.
At Newton Wellesley I have experienced both sides. Just like in every industry, there are employees who constantly give their all, along with employees who do only the bare minimum. I feel that the medical industry should be filled with the most dedicated professionals who no matter what will help where they can. After experiencing many different siutations and scence at the hospital as a volunteer, I try to be as helpful as I can. I hold my self to employee standards and never use being a volunteer as an excuse.
As I have gotten used to the hospital lay out I often find my self instead of giving non clear directions and sending patients on wild goose chases, taking the time to stop what I may be doing to phycially bring the patient to where they need to be. This relieves the anxiety of getting lost, being late, and truly shows patients we care enough to put down our work to help them.
Daniela, I'm pleased with how diligently you've kept up with all the posts. I'm also here to remind you that this site can be built as variously as you wish. Photos, videos, interviews, articles of interest either published AT the hospital, or generally about the industry: all of these show us how you are more than just a body in a place writing about it. Also, as in posts like this one, you say the spectrum runs from people who "give it their all" to people "who do the bare minimum." But what does that LOOK like. You don't have to name names, but give us stories of how that looks. Every industry can generally boast that some people are passionate and others just trying to get through it, but every industry looks different in how it does one side of this or the other. Be specific (without incriminating anyone--that's not the goal either).
