I arrived in the kitchen first thing in the morning and was handed a hairnet, apron and gloves. My first job was to roll napkins with forks, spoons, and knives. I proceeded to roll napkins with silverware for two hours before I met with the nutrition director at the hospital. She began to explain a little bit about her job as a nutrition director at Newton Wellesley. Later on, I began assisting her with patient meal plans. We began to set up all the orders and meal plans for that day making sure the patients were receiving the correct food based on their hospital diets. After most of the meals were prepared I began delivering the meals on large carts to the patient rooms. Later going back around collecting empty trays and dirty dishes.
Overall, I did not enjoy this job as much as the rest. Having the ability to experience the way food is prepared and regulated for each patient in the hospital is a good thing to learn and be able to see.
